Electing Donald Trump: the economy: the stupidity of the United States population.

I watched an interview a couple of days ago with someone who ignorantly said that the economy was much better when Trump was president.

Trump ran the deficit up from 25,000,000,000,000 to 33,000,000,000,000. 8 trillion added to the deficit by this economic destroyer. Why wouldn’t people feel prosperous? They have borrowed and are spending their children’s money before they’ve even earned it.

Trump in his first four years only passed one significant piece of legislation, which was to provide tax breaks for the rich and the big corporations.

It is widely documented that he inherited a fortune from his father. and that he blew it. He survived by hoodwinking people as to the true state of his finances.

He has been bankrupted four times, leaving a trail of hundreds of tradesmen and contractors unpaid and struggling.

He ran such a fraudulent company that his manager went to jail as the fall guy to save Trump himself from going to jail.

The two Trump sons said they only signed stuff that the accountant had approved. If you or I did that, we would find ourselves in jail pretty quick.

So then there was a trial, which proceeded under very strictly observed rules and convicted Trump on 34 counts of fraud.

This is a guy who has never paid tax and never intends to.

Do they really expect a bad tree to produce good fruit?

  1. Hello Dally; As you know I live in Canada and there is fear and trepidation along with jaw dropping disbelieve amidst much of the population that such an amoral, crotch grabbing, misogynist criminal has been elected to such high office. I don’t understand why history, even recent history, does not teach us. Thecla.

    1. Thecla – so good to hear from you. Yes, it is totally incomprehensible. The USA was founded on getting rid of a king. Now they have made one—immune from prosection, intent on enforcing loyalty, intent on retribution of enemies, imposing his mad, uneducated ideas—all he lacks is the Tower of London.

      I hope you are keeping well personally. I spoke to Lawrie the other day- he seems good.. Remi and I are well. Turn 87 on Feb 4.

  2. That’s all true about Trump, Dally, but there’s a bigger issue about the tech oligarchy that he’s now beholden to. Many claim that Elon Musk owns Trump and Peter Thiel owns JD Vance.

    Musk and Thiel have history and apparently don’t like each other these days. But that’s probably irrelevant. Money talks and bullshit walks. They are both members of the PayPal Mafia.

    <snip>
    Individuals whom the media refers to as members of the PayPal Mafia include:[5][4]

    Peter Thiel, PayPal founder and former CEO who is sometimes referred to as the “don” of the PayPal Mafia. Serves as Chairman of the Palantir board and is a founder of Founders Fund.

    Max Levchin, founder and chief technology officer at PayPal. Current CEO of Affirm.

    Elon Musk, co-founder of Zip2, founder of X.com which merged with Confinity to form PayPal. Musk later bought a controlling share in Tesla Motors, founded SpaceX, OpenAI, Neuralink, and The Boring Company, and purchased Twitter (rebranded as X).

    David O. Sacks, former PayPal COO who later founded Geni.com and Yammer.

    Scott Banister, early advisor and board member at PayPal.[6]

    Roelof Botha, former PayPal CFO who later became a partner at the venture capital firm Sequoia Capital.

    Steve Chen, former PayPal engineer who co-founded YouTube.

    Reid Hoffman, former executive vice president who later founded LinkedIn and was an early investor in Facebook and Aviary. Currently sits on the board of Microsoft.

    Just read about Palantir to see Thiel’s influence:
    <snip>
    The company has four main projects: Palantir Gotham, Palantir Foundry, Palantir Apollo, and Palantir AIP.

    Palantir Gotham is an intelligence and defense tool used by militaries and counter-terrorism analysts. Its customers included the United States Intelligence Community (USIC) and United States Department of Defense.[7] Their software as a service (SaaS) is one of five offerings authorized for Mission Critical National Security Systems (IL5[8]) by the U.S. Department of Defense.[9][10]

    Palantir Foundry is used for data integration and analysis by corporate clients such as Morgan Stanley, Merck KGaA, Airbus, Wejo, Lilium, PG&E and Fiat Chrysler Automobiles.[11]

    Palantir Apollo is a platform to facilitate continuous integration/continuous delivery (CI/CD) across all environments.[12][13]

    Palantir’s original clients were federal agencies of the USIC. It has since expanded its customer base to serve both international as well as state and local governments, and also to private companies.[14]

    The tech oligarchy also includes Amazon, Google, Apple, Microsoft.

    From 2019 …

    <snip>

    Sitting at the top of the tech food chain, the five most valuable companies in the world: Apple, Amazon, Alphabet, Microsoft, and Facebook, have come to form the “Tech Oligopoly.” The members of this tech oligopoly are the biggest lobbyists and political donors in Washington.

    You amaze me as usual. So Trump will be ruled by the tech oligopoly. I wonder if Trump has the intelligence to know what is going on in his own life. As long as he gets his revenge, I suppose, and thinks he blows up the “deep state”. And all along the “deep state/tech oligopoly” has provided him with the money.

    In the meantime, who is going to bring the grocery prices down, provide affordable housing, and deliver basic services?
